Penny Michaels is a licensed massage therapist in the State of Florida and has been NCBTMB certified since 2002. Prior to becoming a massage therapist, Penny spent 16 years in engineering, holding a B.S. from North Carolina State University in Materials Science & Engineering. Her love for science continues today in her work and research into understanding and healing the body. Penny had sustained soft tissue injuries from a car crash and spent years in various forms of therapy to reduce pain and regain feeling and strength in her arms. Truly a success story, Penny has now been practicing massage therapy for nine years and continues to learn and understand more about the function of the human body. Her belief in bodywork and the body’s ability to heal itself given the right form of stimulation eventually led her to study Bowen Therapy with her friend and mentor Debra Keathley. Penny has studied and continues to practice many forms of bodywork including: Swedish massage, Deep Tissue massage, Active Isolated Stretching, Bowen Therapy (humans and animals), Hot Stone Massage, and the Body Balance System's ionic detoxifying footbaths. In addition, Penny has studied aspects of energy therapy as well. She is an Usui Reiki Master and offers Reiki sessions as part of her practice. The broad spectrum of areas of study that Penny has undertaken over the years has given her a unique understanding the “mechanics” of the body. Penny’s experience and passion for learning and practicing healing modalities of all types provides her clients with a therapist that has a well-balanced knowledge/experience base as well as a solid belief in the success of natural bodywork. Penny and Debbie teach revolving classes for Bowen Therapy for licensed massage therapists (CE's offered)and laypeople for both our human and animal friends.
